Smooth Espresso

Smooth Espresso is a deep, near-black brown textile with a calm, even face. Its understated surface shows a fine, close texture rather than a visible motif.

About this fabric

The colour reads as a rich espresso brown, with warm depth that becomes slightly lighter across the softly textured surface. Its dense, opaque-looking face and restrained sheen give the swatch a tailored, composed character. The supplied listing identifies Smooth Espresso as a fabric, with no further composition, width, rub-test or performance details provided.

How to use it

Use this dark espresso colourway on a structured armchair, sofa or headboard where its low-key texture can add depth without introducing a pattern. Pair it with warm timber, aged brass and lighter natural tones to keep the brown from feeling flat.

Use this deep espresso tone to bring quiet depth to tailored upholstery and darker, refined interiors.

Pairs well with

Smooth Espresso is a quiet cloth, so it carries a pattern beside it: one of these on the curtains and this on the chair. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
