About this colour

At #857E6C, Silt reads as a warm, muted neutral with enough brown to feel grounded and enough grey to keep it calm. It reflects light gently rather than brightening a room, so it can make a space feel more settled and intimate. In north-facing rooms it will look cooler and a touch more stone-like, with the grey side coming forward. In south-facing light it warms up and the brown undertone becomes clearer, especially beside natural wood, linen, wool upholstery and dark painted joinery. It works well where you want the wall colour to stay in step with other neutrals rather than compete with them.

How to use it

Silt suits sitting rooms, studies and bedrooms where a subdued wall colour is wanted beside oak, walnut or painted woodwork. It also sits well with textured upholstery in oatmeal, taupe, mushroom and deep green.

A calm, grounded neutral that shifts from cool stone in north light to warmer brown-grey in south light.
