About this fabric

The 510gsm cloth has a substantial weight suited to upholstery, while its 13 threads per cm give the printed surface a close, dependable structure. Its usable width is 139cm, with a generous 120cm vertical repeat and 139cm horizontal repeat that allow the sweeping foliage to read across a chair, headboard or sofa panel. The Black Ink ground appears blue-charcoal rather than flat black, bringing cool depth beneath the creamy, hand-drawn-looking leaves and curling stems. Fine pale linework within the foliage adds definition, while scattered muted mustard blooms provide small points of warmth.

How to use it

Use Black Ink on a statement armchair, footstool or sofa in a room with warm ivory walls and aged timber, allowing the mustard flower details to connect with brass or ochre accents. Its cool charcoal-blue depth also works well with chalky blue-grey paint and natural linen.

A substantial, large-scale Morris botanical for statement upholstery, with ivory foliage and restrained mustard accents against a cool ink ground.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Pure Bachelors Button print Black Ink without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
