Nelumbo grey

Alchemy Fabricnelumbo/fao/qua

Nelumbo Grey shows large lotus-like blooms in layered grey, misty lilac and charcoal tones, edged with fine pale outlines. The overall effect is cool, softly atmospheric and quietly dramatic.

About this fabric

Woven in 53% linen and 47% cotton, this fabric has a natural cloth handle that suits curtains, blinds and soft furnishings, and it comes with a generous 136.5cm usable width. The 287gsm weight gives the cloth enough body for a graceful hang while still keeping the pattern readable across larger window drops. Its 45.5cm horizontal and 61cm vertical repeats are ideal for a design with broad, overlapping floral forms like these. In the swatch, the grey ground is lifted by restrained lilac shading and silvery outlines, so the print feels cool rather than heavy. Dry clean only; iron safe.

How to use it

Pair this muted grey colourway with pale oak, smoked glass and soft taupe upholstery for a calm modern scheme. It also works well in rooms where you want a botanical statement that stays disciplined and understated rather than bright.

Use it for a softly dramatic statement on curtains or occasional upholstery.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Nelumbo grey without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
