About this colour

This shade reads as a muted grey-brown with a gentle beige undertone, so it feels warmer than a stone neutral but more restrained than a true brown. On a wall it absorbs light softly, keeping its depth without becoming heavy, and the Waterbased Eggshell finish gives it a smooth, practical look for woodwork as well as walls. In north-facing rooms it can lean a little cooler and more grey, which brings out the mushroom note; in south-facing light it turns warmer and more brown, with the taupe side becoming richer. It sits well beside oak, walnut and painted joinery in broken whites, and it gives a calm backdrop to patterned curtains or upholstery in muted greens, russet, camel or charcoal.

How to use it

Use it in sitting rooms, studies or bedrooms where a grounded neutral is needed on the walls, then repeat it on skirting or cabinetry for a softer scheme. It works especially well with natural timber, linen and wool, and with upholstery in olive, claret or deep blue.

A warm, muted taupe that brings depth without looking dark.
