About this colour

This shade sits in the border between blue and grey, with a cool cast softened by a little warmth, so it reads composed rather than icy. Its #4C4C58 value keeps it fairly low-lit and it will absorb more light than it reflects, which gives it substance on a wall. In a north-facing room it can feel deeper and more slate-like, with the blue quietly retreating into the grey; in south-facing light the blue notes come forward a little and the colour looks clearer. It works well beside pale oak, walnut, chalky whites and brushed metals, and the Waterbased Eggshell finish makes it especially suitable for trim and joinery.

How to use it

Use Indigo Blue in a sitting room, study or hallway where you want the architecture to feel defined. It sits neatly with oatmeal linen, navy upholstery, warm timber and painted joinery in off-white or muted stone tones.

On a wall, this colour reads as a settled blue-grey that feels darker in shade than in sun.
