Midnight Blue

2026 Paint PaintSAP1089-44

Midnight Blue is Sanderson’s poised blue-grey in the 2026 Paint range. It has the quiet depth of dusk, with enough grey in it to feel settled rather than bright.

About this colour

In #5F7990, Midnight Blue reads as a cool, mid-toned blue with a strong grey base, so it softens rather than shouts on a wall. It takes light gently and will appear slightly denser in lower light, which gives it a composed, cocooning feel. In a north-facing room it can lean more slate and restrained, while in south-facing light the blue comes forward and the colour feels clearer and a little airier. In Active Emulsion or Waterbased Eggshell, it suits spaces where you want the walls to sit quietly beside pale oak, dark walnut, chrome, or linen upholstery.

How to use it

It works well in a study, sitting room, or hallway where the aim is a calm backdrop for patterned curtains or upholstered furniture. Pair it with painted woodwork in crisp white, deep navy, or soft grey, and with warm woods to keep the colour from feeling too cool.

A calm blue-grey that feels deeper in shade and clearer in brighter light.

Pairs well with

Midnight Blue is a wall colour, so these are the cloths that sit against it: one of them on the curtains, the paint behind. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.
