About this colour

This shade has a warm base with a cool, dusty edge, so it feels settled rather than sweet. On a wall, #9E9495 absorbs more light than it reflects, giving rooms a calm, close-toned finish that can make a space feel more intimate. In a north-facing room it can lean slightly cooler and more mushroom-like, while in south light the pink in it comes forward and the colour feels gentler and more cushioned. It works well beside pale oak, smoked timber and painted joinery in deeper greys, as well as upholstery in muted sage, taupe or soft charcoal. In Active Emulsion or Waterbased Eggshell, it suits both walls and woodwork where a low, composed colour is needed.

How to use it

Use Nightshade in a sitting room, study or bedroom where you want the walls to feel calm and grounded. It pairs neatly with dark-stained woodwork, natural linen curtains and upholstery in weathered green, stone or brown-grey tones.
