About this colour

This colour reads as a soft mid-tone grey with a clear violet undertone, so it feels cooler than a true taupe but less icy than a blue grey. In north-facing light it will look a little more lilac and shadowed, while south-facing rooms bring out its gentler warmth and make the grey side of it more obvious. On walls, it holds light without looking pale, which gives it presence without heaviness. In Active Emulsion or Waterbased Eggshell, it suits painted joinery as well as full walls, especially beside oak, walnut, charcoal upholstery, or muted floral and stripe fabrics.

How to use it

It works well in sitting rooms, studies, and bedrooms where a calm, slightly formal backdrop is wanted. Pair it with stained woodwork, off-white trim, and upholstery in muted plum, slate, moss, or deep blue tones.

A quiet grey-violet paint that gives a wall depth without feeling dark.
