Bruges Bitter
Bruges Fabric
Bruges Bitter is a richly shadowed brown textile with an almost black appearance in the deeper folds. Its close, fine weave catches the light in tiny points, giving the plain surface understated movement.

About this fabric
The surface is formed by a small-scale, slightly irregular woven texture rather than a printed motif. Across the flatter areas, the colour reads as deep bitter brown with a restrained charcoal cast; the folded sections become almost black. The cloth bends readily into rounded, fluid folds while retaining a visibly tactile grain, making it suitable to consider for both upholstery and drapery. No performance features are noted in the supplied specification.
How to use it
Pair Bruges Bitter with warm timber, aged bronze and soft oatmeal upholstery to keep its near-black brown tone feeling layered rather than stark. Used at a window, its fine texture would bring depth to simple, softly gathered curtains.
Use this deep, near-black brown weave to add quiet depth to upholstered pieces or softly gathered window treatments.

Pairs well with
Bruges Bitter is a quiet cloth, so it carries a pattern beside it: one of these on the curtains and this on the chair. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it
Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
