Emperors Musician Russet

Arcadian Thames Fabrics FabricZOF0203-05

Emperors Musician Russet pairs an aged-cream ground with winding botanical branches, russet flowers and small illustrated scenes of musicians and figures. Teal, blue-green and ochre details give the expansive design a softly historic, decorative character.

About this fabric

At 402gsm, this substantial fabric is well suited to upholstery, where its large 161cm vertical by 141cm horizontal repeat can be displayed across a statement chair, headboard or panel. The 141cm usable width gives generous coverage while the 22 threads-per-cm construction supports its weighty presence. Against the light cream background, the russet accents read warm and gently muted rather than bright, with blue-green foliage, ochre highlights and fine dark outlines adding depth. Winding stems, floral sprays, suspended ornaments and elevated musician scenes create a richly detailed chinoiserie composition that rewards close viewing.

How to use it

Use the warm russet ground accents to bring depth to an otherwise pale room, pairing it with aged wood, teal-painted details and quiet cream upholstery companions. Its large scenic repeat is especially effective on a focal chair or screen where the illustrated vignettes can remain visible.

Use this warm russet-and-cream chinoiserie on a statement chair, headboard or occasional upholstered piece.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
