Jane Churchill

Jane Churchill was founded in 1982 and acquired by Colefax and Fowler in 1989. It is one of the five fabric brands sold by Colefax Group plc, which has offices in the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. Each brand in that group keeps its own separate design studio and its own look.

The Jane Churchill studio is in London, at the group's Mayfair address, and design director Sarah MacGregor leads it alongside Colefax and Fowler. Beside the signature collection sits Atmosphere, a line of neutrals and metallics across velvets, weaves and jacquards, and a series of patterns drawn for children's rooms. Otto is the brand's first performance range, and the Melia wallcovering collection is made from embossed vinyl.

Everything the Colefax group sells is woven and printed by third-party mills rather than in works of its own.

Of the four Colefax brands we hold, this is the one we suggest when a room needs pattern without weight: cotton leads the compositions in our library, and the cloth is usually 140cm wide. Composition, pattern repeat, fire code and care code are published on every piece; the rub test is not, so we take that off the book for upholstery.
