About Osborne & Little
Osborne and Little was founded in 1968 by two brothers-in-law, Peter Osborne and Antony Little, with a new wave of bolder, large-scale hand-printed geometrics. Little had already collaborated on the interior of the Biba shop at the height of the swinging sixties.
Their hand-printed wallpapers won the Council of Industrial Design's award for consumer products in 1970, presented by the Duke of Edinburgh, and the flagship showroom opened on the King's Road in 1972. The design Folia took the Grand Prix at the 1979 Paritex exhibition in Paris. Osborne and Little designs are now held in museum collections including the Victoria and Albert in London, the Cooper Hewitt in New York and the Chicago Institute of Art.
The house has distributed Nina Campbell's collections since 1989 and Matthew Williamson's since 2013. In 2008 it won the commission to create two designs for British Airways, used in Heathrow Terminal 5 and in BA lounges worldwide. The London showroom is now at the Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour.
This was the first house we photographed into the library, which is why its credit mark still sits in the corner of swatches all over this site. What is here is a small part of what the books hold: thirty-six pieces across five collections, most of them publishing a pattern repeat, a weight and a country of origin, several of them made in the United Kingdom.
