About this fabric

The saturated red ground has subtle darker and lighter variations across the visible weave, giving the colourway considerable depth rather than a flat finish. A large pale, elephant-like form enters from the lower left, while the upper-right fragment shows cream ground with red and green floral detail. The generous scale of these partially seen motifs creates a bold, pictorial effect against the uninterrupted red field. Fine horizontal and vertical yarns remain visible throughout, adding a tactile, cloth-like character to the design.
