Crush Violet

Crush FabricCCF0054-29

Crush Violet is a highly saturated violet-magenta textile with a visibly crushed, directional pile. Blackened areas within the surface texture create dramatic depth, making the colour shift between bright berry violet and deep plum.

About this fabric

At 580gsm, this substantial Clarke & Clarke fabric has the visual density and tactile presence of a heavy crushed velvet, making it particularly suited to upholstery. Its irregular dark marks are formed by the changing pile rather than a set motif, so the surface has an expressive, non-directional character with no vertical or horizontal pattern repeat. The 140cm usable width is practical for upholstery applications, while the standard 30m length supports larger projects. In the light, the violet-magenta ground catches vividly across raised areas before falling into near-black plum shadows.

How to use it

Use Crush Violet on a statement armchair, headboard or occasional sofa where its saturated berry-violet tone can act as the room’s jewel colour. Balance the dramatic pile with smoked timber, charcoal, aged brass or soft neutral upholstery nearby.

Use this jewel-toned crushed velvet to give upholstery a dramatic, tactile finish.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
