About this fabric

The Shale colourway reads as a muted warm taupe, sitting between beige and brown rather than appearing cool or grey. A fine crosswoven texture is visible across the plain surface, with the dense yarn structure giving the shade gentle depth as the light moves over it. At 456 gsm, this is a substantial textile suited to upholstery, with a 137 cm usable width. The 0 cm vertical and horizontal pattern repeats confirm that the surface is effectively plain, while the 69 threads per centimetre contribute to its closely woven appearance.

How to use it

Use this warm mushroom-taupe shade on a sofa, occasional chair or headboard to introduce understated depth without a strong pattern. It works especially well alongside chalky creams, natural timber and darker brown accents.

Use this warm mushroom taupe on upholstered seating where its dense, quiet texture can provide a softly tailored finish.

Pairs well with

Jaipur Shale is a quiet cloth, so it carries a pattern beside it: one of these on the curtains and this on the chair. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
