Porter & Stone

Balmoral Spice

Misc Fabric

Balmoral Spice shows a richly woven tartan in russet, burnt orange and muted cream, with a darker check line sharpening the pattern. The finish feels warm and grounded, with a textured surface that softens the contrast between the blocks.

About this fabric

This Porter & Stone fabric is made from 78% Polyester and 22% Cotton, with a width of 140cm and a pattern repeat of 32cm vertical by 35.5cm horizontal. The cloth has the look of a classic check, but the colourway is more autumnal than rustic: a deep spice base is lifted by soft beige and pale oatmeal stripes. Fine dark pinlines run through the check, giving the design extra definition against the brushed-looking weave. With no performance features noted and care code BQV1< supplied, it reads as a decorative furnishing fabric rather than a hard technical textile.

How to use it

Use this colourway to bring warmth to a study, dining chair, or window seat, especially where the orange-rust tones can echo timber and leather. It pairs well with worn brass, natural oak and softer neutrals that let the check stay the focus.

A warm tartan with enough body for cushions, dining chairs, or a standout occasional armchair.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
