About this fabric

The taupe background has a gentle, earthy warmth, while the dragonflies are picked out in pale ivory and soft grey with delicate black outlining. Fine mesh-like wing veining is clearly visible in the larger motifs, giving the pattern a natural-history illustration quality rather than a solid graphic effect. The design has a 32 cm vertical repeat and no horizontal repeat, with motifs appearing at different positions across the 52 cm usable width. It is supplied in a standard 10.05 m length and weighs 154 gsm.

How to use it

Use this warm First Light/Taupe colourway in a bedroom, reading room or botanical-inspired hallway, where its soft ground can sit comfortably with chalky neutrals, oak and aged brass.

Pair the warm taupe ground with pale natural woods and softened black accents to echo the dragonflies’ delicate linework.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Demoiselle Positano/First Light/Taupe without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
