Enigmatic Black Earth
Reflect Fabrics FabricHAF0541-02
Enigmatic Black Earth makes a striking monochrome statement, with chalky ivory ground areas broken by broad, irregular black crossings. Fine dark speckling and visibly distressed texture keep the high contrast from feeling flat.

About this fabric
This Harlequin Reflect Fabrics design has a 315 gsm weight and 140 cm usable width, giving the cloth a substantial presence suited to upholstery. Large, rounded ivory fields sit within rough black bands that form an uneven, mineral-like lattice across the surface. The black areas vary from dense charcoal marks to broken, feathered edges, while scattered flecks animate the lighter ground. Its pattern repeats at 58 cm vertically and 140 cm horizontally, and the fabric is specified at 26.8 threads per cm.
How to use it
Pair the black-and-ivory colourway with warm timber, blackened metal and plain ivory upholstery for a graphic, grounded scheme. On a statement chair or compact sofa, its irregular lattice can act as the room’s main visual texture without introducing another strong pattern.
Use this high-contrast, heavily textured design to give upholstered seating a graphic, monochrome focus.

Pairs well with
A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Enigmatic Black Earth without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it
Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
