Enigmatic Velvet Taupe

Reflect Fabrics VelvetHAF0540-01

Enigmatic Velvet Taupe pairs a chalky ivory ground with broad, irregular taupe brushstrokes that form loose, overlapping loops across the surface. Fine dark speckling within the pale areas gives the design a tactile, weathered character.

About this fabric

The warm, lightly greyed taupe marks are softened by the ivory ground, creating a muted colourway with more depth than a plain neutral. Its large painterly shapes are visibly distressed at the edges, while scattered flecks break up the broad areas of colour. As a 416gsm velvet with 57.7 threads per centimetre, it has a substantial presence suited to upholstery. The usable width is 134.5cm, with a 56.7cm vertical repeat and a 134.5cm horizontal repeat.

How to use it

Use it on a sculptural armchair, headboard or compact sofa in a warm neutral room, pairing the taupe with ivory, mushroom and aged timber. The subdued contrast keeps the large abstract repeat expressive without making the scheme feel busy.

Use this weighty taupe velvet on statement upholstery where its ivory ground and painterly repeat can be appreciated.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
