Montrose Melton Birch
Inchcolm Abbey Fabric
Montrose Melton Birch has a deep, earthy brown ground animated by fine russet, charcoal and muted olive flecks. Its close, softly brushed surface gives the colour a quietly weathered depth rather than a flat finish.

About this fabric
The dense melton-like texture reads as a substantial furnishing cloth, with a softly felted appearance visible across the swatch. Warm brown and rust tones sit alongside darker charcoal and olive notes, creating a richly mottled birch colourway that changes subtly across the surface. No performance features are noted for this fabric, so its visual character is the clearest guide: tactile, grounded and understated. The all-over texture has no distinct repeat or motif, making it suitable where depth is wanted without a patterned upholstery design.
How to use it
Use this warm russet-brown colourway on a sofa, armchair or dining seat to introduce an earthy, enveloping note. Pair it with natural wood, aged leather, charcoal accents and softly muted greens to pick up the flecks in the weave.
A dense, earthy brown melton texture that brings warmth and tactile depth to upholstered seating.

Pairs well with
Montrose Melton Birch is a quiet cloth, so it carries a pattern beside it: one of these on the curtains and this on the chair. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it
Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
