Tulip and Bird Velvet Opal & Sea Foam

Bedford Park Fabrics VelvetMOF0162-02

Tulip and Bird Velvet in Opal & Sea Foam has a cool, deep teal ground densely filled with repeating pale sea-foam and ivory tulip forms. The small-scale pattern gives the velvet a richly layered, almost jewel-like appearance.

About this fabric

This Morris & Co. velvet combines a deep blue-teal background with closely spaced tulip and bird-inspired botanical motifs in sea foam, soft ivory and muted warm accents. Its 416 gsm weight gives the fabric a substantial presence suited to upholstery, while the velvet surface adds subtle depth as the pile catches the light. The pattern repeats every 15 cm vertically and horizontally, creating a consistently detailed rhythm across the 136 cm usable width. With 57.7 threads per cm, the cloth has a visually compact, richly patterned surface rather than an open or airy weave.

How to use it

The cool teal ground works especially well on a reading chair, window seat or compact sofa, where the sea-foam motifs can be paired with warm ivory, aged brass or natural wood. Keep surrounding textiles quieter to let the small repeat and velvet depth remain the focus.

Use this dense teal-and-sea-foam velvet to bring patterned depth to an upholstered chair, sofa or footstool.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Tulip and Bird Velvet Opal & Sea Foam without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
