Theodosia Grey

Melsetter Fabric & Weaves FabricMOF0129-03

Theodosia Grey pairs a cool, softly weathered blue-grey ground with a detailed botanical arrangement of flowers, leaves and small birds. Cream, taupe and muted ochre motifs bring warmth without losing the colourway’s calm, airy character.

About this fabric

The densely arranged design features stylised flowering stems, open seed heads, curling leaves and small birds, all clearly picked out against the blue-grey ground. Cream and pale taupe forms soften the pattern, while ochre and muted gold details add gentle depth where the light catches the surface. At 440 gsm and 13 threads per cm, this is a substantial textile suited to upholstery. The fabric has a 140 cm usable width, with an 81 cm vertical repeat and a 140 cm horizontal repeat for planning the generous botanical layout.

How to use it

Use Theodosia Grey on a statement armchair, sofa or bench where its cool ground can balance honeyed wood and warm brass. Repeat the ochre and cream details in cushions or trims to draw out the quieter tones within the pattern.

Use the cool blue-grey ground to temper warm timber, ochre accents and layered botanical upholstery.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Theodosia Grey without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
