About this fabric

The dense surface reads as a softened blue-grey rather than a strong navy, with fine yarn variation giving the shade gentle depth as the light moves across it. At 605 gsm, Hoy Slate has the substantial handle expected of a heavy upholstery cloth. It is supplied at a 141.5 cm usable width and has no vertical or horizontal pattern repeat, making the plain weave straightforward to position across upholstered forms. The specification lists 34.6 threads per centimetre and a standard 25 m length.

How to use it

Use Hoy Slate on a sofa, armchair or dining seat where its cool, muted tone can anchor a room without introducing a visible motif. Pair it with chalky whites, pale oak, brushed metal and warmer grey accessories to balance the blue cast.

A cool, textural slate shade that brings quiet depth to upholstered seating and complements pale timber, stone and soft neutrals.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
