Forest (Viscose) Indigo

Morris 160th Anniversary Fabric FabricMOF0049-02

Forest (Viscose) Indigo combines a deep, cool indigo ground with an intricate procession of peacocks, rabbits, curling leaves and flowering stems. Pale sage, powder blue, stone, tan and small coral accents lift the dense composition without softening its dramatic depth.

About this fabric

The large-scale repeat brings peacocks with patterned green-blue tails and upright rabbits into a crowded botanical scene, giving the surface a distinctly illustrated character. At 425 gsm, with 35.9 threads per cm, this is a substantial textile suited to upholstery rather than a light, fluid curtain cloth. Its usable width is 139 cm, matching the 139 cm horizontal repeat, while the vertical repeat measures 90.5 cm. Against the near-navy indigo ground, the muted sage foliage and warm animal tones create a cool, layered colourway whose detail becomes especially rich at close range.

How to use it

Pair the indigo ground with walnut, dark-stained wood or aged brass, and use it on a statement armchair or window seat where the peacock and rabbit motifs can be appreciated. Balance its cool blue depth with chalky walls, pale stone upholstery or muted sage accents rather than introducing another strong pattern.

Use this richly detailed indigo upholstery on statement chairs, benches or a carefully selected sofa.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
