Keswick Velvet Indigo has a deep, almost ink-like blue ground, crossed by fine horizontal striations that shift between blue-grey, charcoal and muted rust. The dense, dark colour gives the swatch a dramatic depth, while the broken surface markings keep it visually active.

About this fabric

This GP & J Baker velvet combines deep indigo with charcoal-dark shading and occasional subdued rust and blue-grey threads, creating a richly variegated surface rather than a flat plain. Fine, irregular horizontal marks run across the face of the cloth, giving the colourway a softly weathered, tactile appearance. Composed of 22% Polyester, 52% Viscose and 26% Cotton, it is 140 cm (55") wide and suitable for both loose and fixed upholstery. The fabric has a 50,000 Martindale rub test; care instructions specify professional dry cleaning only, with no washing, bleaching or ironing.

How to use it

Use this cool, deep indigo on a statement sofa, occasional chair or banquette where its dark striations can bring depth without introducing a strong repeat pattern. Pair it with warm timber, aged brass and rust-toned accents to draw out the subtle reddish threads in the weave.
