Sorrel Slate

Oakham Weaves FabricSCF0131-05

Sorrel Slate has a cool, muted depth, with slate-taupe woven marks set against a softly contrasting pale ground. Its close-up surface reads as a fine, tactile geometric texture rather than a bold motif.

About this fabric

This 536gsm fabric has a dense woven construction, with slender, repeating lozenge-like marks arranged in compact vertical lines. The colourway balances charcoal-slate and warm grey-brown tones with pale ivory threads, giving the surface a softly mottled appearance as the weave catches the light. At 135cm usable width, it has a 19cm vertical repeat and a 10.5cm horizontal repeat, while the 91 threads-per-centimetre construction keeps the small-scale pattern precise. Its substantial weight makes Sorrel Slate particularly well suited to upholstered seating and other tailored furniture applications.

How to use it

Use Sorrel Slate on a clean-lined sofa, armchair or dining seat where its cool taupe-grey tone can sit comfortably with chalky walls, pale oak and charcoal accents. The small repeat is also effective on shaped upholstery, adding pattern and texture without overwhelming the form.

Use this cool slate-taupe weave on tailored upholstery where its fine, repeating texture can add depth without visual heaviness.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Sorrel Slate without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
