Courtney Grey/Linen

Country House Fabrics FabricSAF0203-01

Courtney Grey/Linen shows a classic damask with a soft, chalky presence and a quietly aged look. The design reads pale grey at first glance, with linen and ivory notes lifting the pattern from the ground.

About this fabric

This Country House Fabrics fabric by Sanderson is a substantial woven cloth at 300 gsm, with a usable width of 143 cm and a large repeat of 45 cm vertical by 47 cm horizontal. The surface has the weight and body suited to upholstery, while the fine 49 threads per cm help keep the ornate damask crisp. In this colourway, the ground sits in a muted grey-linen tone, and the pattern is picked out in lighter ivory-beige relief for a gently weathered effect. The overall finish feels calm and traditional rather than stark, with enough tonal contrast to show the scrolling motif clearly without looking heavy.

How to use it

Use it on an upholstered armchair, headboard or ottoman where the pale grey damask can add structure without darkening the room. It pairs especially well with aged woods, painted trim and soft neutrals in rooms that lean classic and relaxed.

A refined damask in a pale linen-grey that brings quiet period character to classic seating and cushions.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
