Capuchins Chintz

Curios Fabrics FabricSAF0079-02

Capuchins Chintz pairs a soft ivory ground with hand-drawn botanicals, fruit and capuchins in a bright, whimsical repeat. The cream background keeps the palette airy, so the pink flowers, green foliage and blue birds read clearly without feeling heavy.

About this fabric

This fabric has a usable width of 140 cm, a vertical pattern repeat of 91 cm and a horizontal repeat of 140 cm, so the full design opens out generously across the cloth. At 300 gsm with 49 threads per cm, it has enough substance for tailored soft furnishings while still retaining the crisp printed detail visible in the swatch. The colourway is warm and creamy rather than stark white, which softens the greens, blush pinks and blue accents and gives the whole design a relaxed, collected feel. The overall effect is decorative but not loud, with the ivory base allowing the scattered motifs to breathe.

How to use it

Use this colourway where you want pattern and personality without darkening the room: it works especially well on a statement chair, ottoman or Roman blind against pale timber and painted finishes. The soft ivory ground also lets the pink and green notes sit comfortably alongside natural linens, rattan and neutral upholstery.

A lively, storybook print that works best when the wall behind it or upholstery around it stays calm.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Capuchins Chintz without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
