About this colour

This shade reads as a soft, cool-leaning green-grey with enough pigment to hold its own, but not so much that it darkens a room heavily. On a wall, #777976 absorbs light gently and gives a restrained, grounded finish in Active Emulsion or Waterbased Eggshell. In a north-facing room it will feel cooler and more slate-like, with the green receding a little; in south-facing light the green comes forward and the colour looks warmer, softer and more olive. It sits well beside natural oak, aged brass, off-white trim and upholstered pieces in oatmeal, moss, charcoal or muted stripe.

How to use it

Vineyard works well in sitting rooms, studies and boot rooms where you want a steady, composed backdrop. It pairs neatly with painted woodwork in a lighter off-white or with darker joinery, and it is especially good beside linen, velvet or wool upholstery in earthy neutrals.

A calm green-grey wall colour that changes quietly with the light.
