Cape Mohair Thunder

Cape Mohair Fabric

Cape Mohair Thunder is a deep charcoal plain with a softly dappled mohair surface and a low, velvety sheen. The colour reads cool and grounded, with subtle tonal shifts that give the cloth depth rather than flatness.

About this fabric

Woven in 50% Mohair and 50% Acrylic, this upholstery fabric has the rich handle and muted lustre you can see in the swatch image. At 140 cm wide and with no pattern repeat, it offers a clean, continuous look that keeps the focus on the texture and dark stormy grey tone. The 80,000 Martindale rub test makes it a practical choice for everyday seating as well as statement pieces. Thunder sits in a near-charcoal register, with soft blackened grey notes that catch the light gently and avoid a harsh, shiny finish.

How to use it

Use Thunder on tailored armchairs, a sofa, or banquette seating where a smart, dark neutral will anchor the room. It works especially well with pale woods, stone, and brushed metal finishes, where its smoky grey depth can read elegant rather than severe.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
