About this colour

At #9F9F95, Elephant Grey is a muted grey with warmth in it, so it feels more grounded than blue-grey and less brown than taupe. It absorbs more light than a pale neutral, but the tone still holds its shape clearly on a wall, especially in the matt finishes. In a north-facing room it will look cooler and a little more subdued, with the green-grey side becoming more apparent. In south-facing light it warms up and can read as a soft stone-grey that sits easily beside aged oak, walnut, mushroom upholstery and chalky off-whites. Acrylic Eggshell will suit woodwork where a quieter sheen is wanted, while Elite Emulsion and True Matt give the colour a smoother, more tailored wall finish.

How to use it

Use Elephant Grey in sitting rooms, studies or hallways where you want a neutral with a little depth. It works well with painted joinery, dark timber furniture and upholstery in sage, camel, ink or oyster tones.
