About this colour

At #877D73, Raw Umber reads as a muted warm taupe with a clear brown undertone and a soft grey restraint, so it feels steady rather than muddy. It absorbs more light than it reflects, which gives it a composed, close-toned finish on large wall areas. In a north-facing room it can lean cooler and more stone-like, while in south light the warmer brown comes forward and the colour feels deeper and richer. It works well beside oak, walnut and dark painted joinery, and it has enough softness to sit comfortably with patterned linen, brushed wool and muted leather.
