About this colour

At #6F5966, Purple Tulip reads as a muted berry-plum with a cool undertone, warmed by the brown in it, so it feels balanced rather than sharp. On a wall it absorbs light gently and gives a room a grounded, enveloping look. In north-facing light it can turn a little duskier and more slate-toned, while in south-facing rooms the warmer pigment comes forward and the colour looks fuller and softer. It sits well beside natural oak, dark walnut, antique brass, and linen shades with taupe, stone or olive in them. In Acrylic Eggshell, Elite Emulsion and True Matt, it works neatly on walls or on painted joinery where a deeper, quieter colour is wanted.

How to use it

Use Purple Tulip in a study, sitting room or bedroom where you want a cocooning wall colour with depth. It pairs especially well with walnut woodwork, brass details, and upholstery in mushroom, damson, sage or deep green.

Purple Tulip gives a wall a muted plum tone that feels calm and considered.
