About this colour

At #A1A09E, Empire Grey sits in that useful middle ground between grey and taupe, so it reads calm and slightly earthy on a wall. The warmth in it softens the colour in north-facing rooms, where it can look a touch quieter and more muted, while in south-facing light it shows more of its beige-grey side without turning yellow. It reflects light gently rather than bouncing it, which gives it a settled look in Acrylic Eggshell, Elite Emulsion or True Matt. It sits well beside pale oak, smoked timber, mushroom upholstery and deeper charcoals, where its undertone helps bridge warm and cool shades.

How to use it
