About this colour

In #CEC9C3, Quarter Empire Grey reads as a pale warm grey with a faint beige undertone, so it lifts light without feeling stark. On walls it feels calm and settled rather than bright, and the Acrylic Eggshell, Elite Emulsion and True Matt finishes will all hold that restrained, chalky-looking depth in different ways. In a north-facing room it can lean a little cooler and more stone-like, while in south-facing light the warmth comes forward and the colour feels softer and more rounded. It sits well beside natural oak, painted skirtings in deeper greys, and upholstery in linen, taupe, mole and muted sage.

How to use it

Use it in sitting rooms, hallways or bedrooms where you want a neutral that is less flat than white. It works neatly with pale oak panelling, walnut furniture and upholstered pieces in oatmeal, mushroom or faded blue.
