Plains 1 The Alchemy of Colour FabricZOF0167-02

About this fabric

This substantial Zoffany textile weighs 630gsm and has a usable width of 140cm, giving the cloth a dense, grounded presence suited to upholstery. Its 22 threads per centimetre create a fine, even weave that catches the light softly without becoming glossy. The colour reads as dusky aubergine-plum, with a cooler blue-violet cast in the lighter areas of the swatch. With no vertical or horizontal pattern repeat, it can be cut and matched without aligning a design.

How to use it

Use this cool plum-purple on a sofa, dining chair or headboard where its depth can anchor softer mauves, smoky greys and warm timber. In brighter rooms, the blue-violet undertone keeps the shade feeling atmospheric rather than heavy.

Its deep, dusky plum tone and substantial woven handle make it a composed choice for upholstered seating and occasional furniture.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
