Austen Slate

Darwin Collection FabricAUSTEN

Austen Slate is a quietly tailored plain with a cool slate-grey surface and a subtle horizontal striation visible across the weave. The finish reads smooth and composed, with just enough texture to keep the colour from feeling flat.

About this fabric

Woven in 90% recycled polyester and 10% polyester, Austen Slate is specified for drapes only and has a generous 140cm width. At 200gsm, it sits in a light-to-midweight drapery range, with the image showing a fine, fluid cloth rather than a heavy upholstery textile. The colour is a muted slate grey with blue undertones, softened by the small horizontal lines that catch the light and give the plain a gentle linear movement. Made in India, this is a practical, contemporary plain that brings a neat, understated finish to windows.

How to use it

Use Austen Slate for full-length curtains, sheers backed with lining, or relaxed Roman blinds where the cool grey tone can sharpen a room. It works especially well with pale woods, chalk whites, and deeper graphite accents.

A calm slate tone that gives drapes a clean, tailored finish.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
