Breton Charcoal

Edgeworth FabricCCF0549-03

Breton Charcoal presents a cool, deep grey ground with closely spaced vertical lines that give the swatch a quietly tailored appearance. Its fine ribbed surface creates subtle tonal movement as the light shifts across it.

About this fabric

The charcoal-grey colourway has a cool, softened depth rather than a flat black appearance, with fine vertical ribs visible throughout the cloth. At 301gsm, it has a substantial mid-weight presence while remaining suitable for both upholstery and drapery. The fabric measures 140cm usable width and has no vertical pattern repeat, with a very subtle 0.5cm horizontal repeat. A standard length is supplied as 40m.

How to use it

Use Breton Charcoal to bring a composed, architectural grey to sofas, occasional chairs or clean-lined curtains. Its narrow vertical texture works especially well where you want depth without introducing a bold motif.

A cool charcoal-grey woven stripe with enough structure for upholstery and enough refinement for drapery.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Breton Charcoal without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
