About this fabric

This Sahara fabric from Larsen is woven in a 62% wool, 31% linen and 7% polyamide blend, giving the surface a dry, rustic handle with visible irregularity. The colourway reads as a spiced clay tone rather than a bright orange, with creamy yarns breaking up the surface and softening the overall effect. At approximately 143cm wide, it has no repeat, which suits the honest, non-directional character of the weave. The mix of wool and linen gives it a natural matte depth that feels relaxed and tactile rather than polished.

How to use it

Use Mekele Spice on a tailored chair, ottoman or banquette where the earthy terracotta can bring warmth without feeling heavy. It sits well with bone, sand and dark wood, and the paler threads keep it lively in natural light.

Pair this earthy weave with cream, tan and weathered timber for a grounded scheme.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
