Shelley China Blue

Byron Fabric

Shelley China Blue has a rich denim-blue ground with a crisp, herringbone-like texture that gives the surface lively movement. The small-scale woven pattern reads tailored and quietly textural rather than bold.

About this fabric

Woven in 100% polyester and measuring 140cm wide, Shelley China Blue is a practical fabric with a clean, even handle. The design shows a tightly worked chevron and herringbone effect in layered blue and pale yarns, creating a speckled, slate-to-denim depth across the surface. Its finish looks dry and textured rather than glossy, so the colour feels grounded and slightly weathered. With no pattern repeat noted, the rhythm comes from the weave itself rather than a printed motif. The overall effect is smart, versatile and suitable for everyday use on upholstery pieces that benefit from a little visual movement.

How to use it

Use this blue on an armchair, banquette or scatter cushion where its small-scale weave can add texture without overpowering the room. It works well with white paint, oak, brushed metal and other cool neutrals.

Pair with pale oak and crisp white for a tailored, easy-to-live-with look.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
