Molten Lapis/Cinnabar

Defined Momentum Velvets VelvetHAF0641-04

Molten Lapis/Cinnabar combines a deep lapis-blue ground with closely packed, softly irregular loops in blue-grey and teal. Fine cinnabar-toned outlines bring a restrained warmth to the cool, richly shaded surface.

About this fabric

This Harlequin velvet weighs 693gsm, giving the densely patterned cloth a substantial presence suited to upholstery. The small interlocking forms repeat across the surface like linked, organic contours, with the lapis ground showing through between blue-grey and teal shapes. Muted cinnabar edging appears as narrow warm accents rather than a dominant colour, adding depth without disturbing the cool blue impression. The pattern has a 41.5cm vertical repeat and 34.5cm horizontal repeat, with a 139.5cm usable width and 97 threads per centimetre.

How to use it

Use this colourway on a statement armchair, sofa or headboard against warm stone, charcoal or softly rust-toned walls. Its cool lapis depth suits quiet layered schemes, while the cinnabar details can be picked up in piping, cushions or ceramics.

A substantial velvet for upholstered seating, where its deep blue ground and warm cinnabar accents can create a richly layered focal point.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Molten Lapis/Cinnabar without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
