Summer Noir Wavy

SS23 Images - Babooshka Fabric

Summer Noir Wavy pairs a deep charcoal-black ground with oversized painterly florals and scrolling stems in coral, teal, lime and gold. The contrast gives the design a bold, nocturnal feel while the cotton cloth keeps it looking natural and tactile.

About this fabric

Woven in 100% cotton, this fabric has a usable width of 138cm and a 20,000 Martindale rating, making it suitable for upholstery, drapery and accessories in general domestic use. The pattern repeat measures 45cm horizontally and 64cm vertically, which supports the large-scale botanical layout visible in the swatch. On this colourway, the dark base reads almost black with a soft charcoal cast, allowing the orange-coral blooms, turquoise leaves and olive detailing to glow vividly against it. The surface shows a subtle woven texture rather than a flat printed look, so the design feels rich and slightly artisanal. It is treatable for FR drapery and upholstery, and contains Better Cotton content.

How to use it

Use it where you want a dramatic, evening-toned feature: a statement chair, loose cover or lined curtains against timber, brass or painted dark green. The black ground helps the brighter motif hold its shape in low light, so it works especially well in layered, moody rooms.

The dark ground makes the vivid floral motif feel dramatic and jewel-like.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
