Kirkby Design

8 Bit Carbon

8 Bit Carbon presents a near-black charcoal ground scattered with broken, pixel-like marks in contrasting grey. Its dense, woven-looking surface gives the geometric design a tactile, softly softened edge.

About this fabric

This Kirkby Design Arcade fabric uses a deep charcoal tone as its base, with irregular stepped motifs that read like a pixel pattern across the surface. The grey marks vary subtly in intensity, preventing the black ground from appearing flat and adding a sense of movement at close range. The visible weave gives the design a textured finish rather than a sharp printed appearance. It is catalogued as a fabric, with no further performance specification supplied.

How to use it

Pair this cool charcoal-and-grey colourway with pale concrete tones, blackened timber or brushed metal for a graphic contemporary scheme. Its dark depth is especially effective on a statement chair, headboard or compact sofa.

Use this charcoal colourway to add graphic texture and depth to contemporary upholstered seating.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside 8 Bit Carbon without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
