Lyrical Black Earth

Colour 2 Fabrics FabricHAF0455-02

Lyrical Black Earth is a deep, near-black brown textile scattered with dense, broken pale marks. Its close, irregular surface pattern reads almost charcoal at a distance, while the lighter flecks emerge as the fabric catches the light.

About this fabric

The substantial 628gsm weight and visibly compact weave make this colourway particularly well suited to upholstery. Against the dark earth-toned ground, short pale strokes form a small, organic-looking texture rather than a sharply defined motif. The pattern repeats every 34.6cm vertically and 35cm horizontally, creating a consistent but gently irregular surface across the 140.7cm usable width. With 66 threads per centimetre, the cloth has a dense visual presence that gives black upholstery more depth than a flat plain.

How to use it

Use Lyrical Black Earth on a statement armchair, sofa or dining seat where its near-black brown depth can balance pale walls, natural oak and brushed metal. Keep surrounding patterns quiet so the close pale flecks remain visible.

Use this deep, near-black brown ground to anchor tailored upholstery alongside warm timber, aged brass and quiet neutrals.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
