Little Greene

Arras

Reds and Pinks Paint

Arras is a quietly seasoned red with a brown undertone, giving it the depth of old brick and dried rose petals. In Little Greene’s Reds and Pinks family, it sits as a settled, usable shade rather than a bright statement colour.

About this colour

This #744442 reads as a warm, muted red-brown with enough depth to feel close and anchored, but not so much brown that it loses its red character. On a wall, it absorbs more light than it reflects, so it will feel cosier and darker in low light, especially in a north-facing room where the cooler daylight can bring out the brown and make it read more earthy. In south-facing light it softens and shows more of its red side, with a warmer, fuller look that can feel enveloping without becoming orange. It sits well beside natural oak, walnut and dark stained woodwork, and it also makes a strong backdrop for linen, velvet and patterned upholstery in cream, ochre, moss or inky blue.

How to use it

Arras suits a library, dining room or snug where you want the walls to feel intimate and grounded. It works particularly well with painted joinery in deep brown, off-white or the same colour on woodwork, and with upholstery in tan leather, warm neutrals or muted florals.

On a wall, Arras gives a room a warm, settled red-brown depth.
