Padua Steel

Zanzibar Fabrics FabricSCF0088-01

Padua Steel pairs a cool ivory ground with delicate soft-grey foliage, creating a light botanical surface with a quietly sketched character. The leaves overlap across the cloth in varied directions, giving the pale colourway gentle movement without strong contrast.

About this fabric

The design is made up of layered leaves and slender stems drawn in muted grey, with some forms appearing softly brushed and others picked out in fine linework. Against the near-white ivory ground, the Steel colourway reads cool, airy and understated rather than stark, while the denser grey leaf shapes add subtle depth. At 220gsm, this fabric has a versatile mid-weight suitable for both upholstery and drapery. It has a 137cm usable width, a 91.4cm vertical repeat and a 137cm horizontal repeat, so the large botanical layout should be considered carefully when pattern matching.

How to use it

Use Padua Steel to bring a cool, restful botanical layer to a light room: it suits full-length curtains and Roman blinds, or an occasional chair where the ivory ground can sit against pale grey, chalk or natural wood.

Use this cool ivory-and-grey botanical for calm curtains, blinds or softly tailored upholstery.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Padua Steel without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
