Makoto Fossil

Tomoko FabricSCF0041-02

Makoto Fossil pairs a cool fossil-grey ground with pale, irregular vertical forms that resemble weathered fragments or mineral markings. Its closely textured weave gives the colourway a softly varied, tactile surface rather than a flat grey appearance.

About this fabric

This substantial woven fabric weighs 529 gsm and has a dense construction of 92 threads per cm, making it well suited to upholstery. The design is formed from broken vertical marks in several shades of grey, with pale shapes standing out against a darker, grain-like ground. A 38 cm vertical repeat and 16.5 cm horizontal repeat give the pattern a noticeable but controlled medium scale. With a 137 cm usable width and a standard 30 m length, it is practical for coordinated upholstery projects.

How to use it

Use Makoto Fossil on an armchair, sofa or upholstered headboard where its cool grey tone can soften stronger colours while its pale mineral-like markings add movement. Pair it with chalky whites, charcoal, weathered timber and brushed metal for a calm, contemporary scheme.

Use this cool, tactile grey upholstery to bring quiet pattern and layered texture to seating.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Makoto Fossil without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
