Makoto Midnight

Tomoko FabricSCF0041-05

Makoto Midnight makes a striking impression with dense, irregular midnight-black marks woven across a warm ivory ground. The close-up reveals a tactile, grainy surface that gives the dark colour depth rather than a flat printed appearance.

About this fabric

This substantial 529gsm textile is suited to upholstery, with a 137cm usable width and a closely structured weave of 92 threads per centimetre. Its near-black, slightly blue-toned ground colour is broken by pale ivory channels, creating a high-contrast abstract pattern of sharp, brush-like vertical fragments. The design repeats every 38cm vertically and 16.5cm horizontally, keeping the energetic motif present across a larger upholstered surface. In the swatch, the raised-looking dark yarns and fine woven grain catch the light unevenly, adding quiet movement to the otherwise graphic colourway.

How to use it

Use Makoto Midnight on a statement chair, sofa or headboard where its cool blue-black depth can anchor warmer ivory walls, pale timber and brushed or aged metal details.

Use this deep, graphic upholstery with warm ivory, charcoal and aged metal accents.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
