Elysian Geese Velvet Forest/Fig

Arboretum Fabrics VelvetSAF0256-01

Elysian Geese Velvet in Forest/Fig sets pale flying geese against a richly shaded forest ground. The contrast gives the design a hushed, dramatic presence with a soft fig-toned lift in the wings and shadows.

About this fabric

This Sanderson velvet has a usable width of 134 cm, a standard length of 60 m, a vertical repeat of 88 cm and a horizontal repeat of 134 cm, so the flying geese motif reads as a full, sweeping tableau across the cloth. At 416 gsm with 57.7 threads per cm, it has the substance and density expected of a proper upholstery velvet. The visible pile catches light gently, softening the deep green base into an almost blackened forest tone while the birds remain creamy, warm and slightly plum-hued in the shaded feathering. The large repeat and spacious arrangement give the fabric a stately rhythm rather than an all-over scatter, which suits the scale of the motif.

How to use it

Use this colourway on a pair of armchairs, a banquette or ottoman where the dark ground can anchor the room. It pairs well with walnut, aged brass and quiet moss or fig accents, echoing the fabric’s deep woodland palette.

A dramatic velvet for statement seating, where the dark ground lets the pale geese stand out beautifully.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
